Lomenzo Hyper Drive

The LoMenzo Hyper Drive is a bass specific distortion unit providing a unique range of distortion effects as envisioned by James LoMenzo, bassist for Megadeth. The operation of this distortion pedal is totally unique and unlike any previous and existing distortion or overdrive effects units. A band of frequencies within the Mid range of the bass signal is filtered out and the distortion effect is added only to this band of frequencies. The filtered frequencies can be ‘tuned’to the precise range that gives the optimum effect. The degree of distortion available is variable from a slight effect only to well over the top, allowing for a new range of extreme effects for bass to be produced. The resultant distortion effect can be mixed in with the original ‘Dry’bass signal maintaining a full bodied powerful bass character with distortion overtones.

Lomenzo Hyper Drive

Created in collaboration with hard rock bass legend James Lomenzo. The Lomenzo Hyper Drive draws on James’ 30 year playing career that has seen him work with Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society, David Lee Roth, Ozzy Osbourne, Slash’s Snake Pit, White Lion and Megadeth.

Get Hyper

To create the fire-breathing overdrive sound that James craves, the drive section in the Hyper Drive is far from typical. A band of frequencies in the mid range of the bass signal is selected and the distortion effect is only applied to those frequencies creating a unique overdrive flavour whereby the top and bottom end remains untouched, but the powerful mids can be tuned from a mild-growl to full-on distortion.

You can tune the distortion frequency range to suit your bass/style and a mix control let’s you balance the original ‘dry’ signal back into the mix.

Setting the level

Whether you’re using an active or passive bass, the Ashdown VU meter in combination with the Input level knob let’s you easily find the sweet spot, ensuring you get the best possible tone in and out – whatever instrument you’re using.

Built for the road

We know the rigours of the live gigging, that’s why we build our pedals tough enough for whatever the road throws at them. Metal casings, premium controls and switches, recessed knobs and kickguards to protect screens and VU meters – bring it on!

True Bypass Switching

We don’t mess with your tone. Ashdown Pedals feature genuine ‘true bypass’ switching for zero-colouration of your input signal when the pedal isn’t in use. The Output level control lets you dial in the perfect balance between the effect and the true bypass level.
